Cosmetic Dentist in Carrollton

Thanks to the tremendous advances in dental technology, treatment techniques and the development of state-of-the-art materials, there truly isn’t anything that Carrollton cosmetic dentist Dr. Capua can’t fix in a smile. No matter what type of imperfection is making you unhappy about your dentition, we offer the cosmetic dentistry treatment you need to have a smile that exudes confidence and beauty.

Tooth-Colored Fillings

For decades, dentists were restricted to filling cavities with an amalgam of metals. These silver fillings served their restorative purpose, but they left an unavoidable dark spot in a patient’s smile. If you have some of these unsightly fillings that you’d like to be rid of—or if one of your teeth has developed a new cavity—Dr. Capua can replace old fillings and repair decay with tooth-colored fillings. These fillings are made of composite resin materials that are blended to match the existing color of your tooth. No one but you and Dr. Capua will ever know you’ve had a filling.

Teeth Whitening

Sometimes all a smile needs to look better is a bit of color—and by color, Dr. Capua means white. We know that our patients have different preferences and different schedules. That’s why we offer both in-office teeth whitening as well as a professional grade whitening kit you can use at home. Our in-office system only requires about an hour of your time to significantly brighten your smile. Once the whitening gel is applied, a special laser light speeds the whitening process. With our take-home kit, you’ll receive custom-fitted mouth trays and professional strength whitening gel. Simply fill the trays and wear them according to Dr. Capua’s instructions.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers may be the ideal solution for you if your smile is plagued by several different cosmetic imperfections. Chips, fractures, permanent stains and discolorations, even teeth that are slightly crooked can be corrected with porcelain veneers. These thin coverings are made of sturdy dental porcelain. Dr. Capua designs each custom crafted veneer to fit perfectly over its corresponding tooth. Once cemented to your teeth, the veneers combine to create a perfect smile.

Similarly, crowns are custom designed to fit over a tooth that has been damaged by tooth decay, gum disease or injury. Crowns not only restore the natural appearance of a tooth, but also the functionality of a tooth. With porcelain veneers, your smile can be both attractive and strong.

Cosmetic Dentistry FAQs

Man learning how dental implants work in Carrollton

As a cosmetic dentist in Carrollton, Dr. Kimberly Capua takes pride in ensuring her patients are pleased with the results of their treatment. But if you’re only in the initial stages of considering cosmetic dentistry, you may have many questions that will ultimately determine your decision. Because we never want you to feel uninformed or concerned about the treatments we offer, Dr. Capua wants to put your mind at ease by providing the answers to some common questions about cosmetic dentistry. Below you will find a list you can review; however, should you not see the information you need, please contact us to schedule an appointment.

How does cosmetic dentistry improve your smile?

Apart from the obvious explanation that you will notice a dramatic difference in the aesthetics of your smile, you may be surprised to learn that your oral health can improve too. By addressing chips, stains, cracks, gaps, and other common cosmetic flaws, you can lower your risk of tooth decay, cavities, and gum disease.

While every treatment is different, the realization that cosmetic dentistry provides benefits to both your health and appearance is often a positive reminder for patients like yourself who may be considering these services.

How long can I expect cosmetic treatments to take?

This ultimately depends on the type of cosmetic treatment(s) you choose. Tooth-colored fillings and in-office teeth whitening can be completed the same day, while porcelain veneers require at least two visits to our office because of the time devoted to creating your new restorations. At-home teeth whitening kits also typically take about two weeks before you achieve desired results.

No matter the type of treatment you choose, however, you can rest assured that Dr. Capua and our team will be mindful of your timeline when crafting a personalized treatment plan.

What can I do to extend my results?

Cosmetic dentistry is an investment in your time and money. To ensure your results last as long as possible, you’ll need to make sure you’re maintaining optimal oral hygiene standards, avoiding dark-colored foods and beverages as much as possible, giving up unhealthy habits that can damage your smile, and continuing to see your cosmetic dentist every six months for regular checkups and cleanings.

By following these guidelines, you can prepare to enjoy the results of your cosmetic improvements for much longer. Teeth whitening, tooth-colored fillings, and porcelain veneers will need touch-ups and/or replacements years in the future, but they remain healthy and beautiful as long as you commit to taking proper care of your new smile.

Will my dental insurance cover my cosmetic treatment?

It is highly unlikely that your dental insurance carrier will cover the cost of your cosmetic treatment. The reason is that these services are often not viewed as “medically necessary.” The only exception might be a tooth-colored filling.

The good news is that while your insurance may not cover the costs, you can apply for flexible financing through CareCredit. By breaking up the cost of your treatment into manageable monthly installments, you can focus on improving your smile without emptying the bank. Our team will be happy to help should you have questions about enrolling with CareCredit.

Understanding the Cost of Cosmetic Dentistry

Unlike essential preventive and restorative care, cosmetic dentistry typically isn’t covered by dental insurance. Naturally, this causes many patients to wonder about the cost associated with enhancing their smiles. The good news is that our knowledgeable team is here to help you every step of the way! We’d love to answer all of your price-related questions at your appointment, but if you want to learn more in the meantime, read on!

What Cosmetic Dental Service is Right for Me?

From stubborn stains and unsightly chips to troublesome misalignment, there are several dental flaws that can dull your self-confidence. Luckily, we offer a wide range of smile-perfecting treatments in-house, including:

  • Teeth Whitening – We are proud to offer in-office teeth whitening treatments and take-home kits that are safe, effective, and reliable. So, if dental discoloration is the root of the problem, we can help you blast away pigmented stains in no time!
  • Tooth-Colored Fillings – Tooth-colored fillings are where restorative and cosmetic dentistry meet. Instead of restoring a decayed or damaged tooth with metal, a tooth-colored alternative can be used that is both durable and lifelike.
  • Veneers – Veneers are one of the most popular cosmetic dental treatments. And it’s not hard to see why with their ability to correct several flaws – from slight misalignment to severe discoloration – simultaneously. Plus, all it takes is two appointments!
  • Invisalign – Unhappy with crooked or gapped teeth? We can help with that too – no metal needed! The custom-made clear aligners can place just enough pressure on your teeth to gently guide them into their entirely new positions.

Cosmetic Dentistry Can Be An Investment Worth Making

Cosmetic dentistry requires a financial commitment, but it’s important to remember that it is an investment in yourself. Perfecting your teeth and your grin can lead to numerous benefits for your confidence, your oral health, and your overall well-being. Plus, depending on your treatment, the results can last for decades, allowing you to enjoy the benefits in both the short and long-term.

How to Make Cosmetic Dentistry Affordable

As mentioned above, cosmetic dental treatments aren’t typically covered by dental insurance since they aren’t “medically necessary.” Don’t let that stop you though; there are other ways to make the cost of cosmetic dentistry in Carrollton more affordable. Our team is proud to work with trusted third-party financiers, like CareCredit. As a result, you can break up your payments over the course of several months instead of paying for the entire amount upfront. If you want to learn more about this financial solution, don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Ultimately, determining the exact cost of cosmetic dentistry for your specific smile goals starts with a consultation. From there, we can review your treatment options, provide you with a cost estimate, and help you navigate the financial aspects of your care. Every step of the way, we will go above and beyond to make the process as seamless and stress-free as possible.
